Graham Waggoner Bridges
May 16, 2025

Graham Waggoner Bridges, 84, of Clyde, Texas, passed away peacefully on May 10, 2025. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 17, 2025, at St. Paul United Methodist Church in Abilene with Rev. Benji Van Fleet officiating. Services are under the direction of Bailey-Howard Funeral Home in Clyde.
Born on July 19, 1940, in Carthage, Texas, Graham lived a full and meaningful life centered on faith, family and fellowship. He was a man of deep character, gentle strength, and enduring faith. He grew up in Lake Jackson, Texas, and graduated from Brazosport High School before going on to earn a bachelor’s degree in business from Stephen F. Austin University and a master’s degree in human relations from Abilene Christian University.
Graham built a successful career as a merchandising training specialist at Gulf Oil – Later Chevron Corp. – where he worked with integrity and dedication until his retirement in 1999. He also built a life deeply rooted in community and service. A devoted member of both the United Methodist Church in Boerne and later St. Paul in Abilene, Graham gave his time and energy freely, especially through music, where he found joy in singing with choral groups.
A passionate golfer, Graham could be found on the course nearly every day until a stroke slowed his swing, but never his spirit. More than any pastime, however, Graham’s heart belonged to his family. His greatest joy came from time spent with his beloved wife of 50 years, Jeanne Bridges; his five children, Cynthia Bonny Standefer (Russ), Sylvia Bonny Miller (Russell), William Keith Bonny (Kristi), Julie Bridges Kunz (Marty), and Damon Robert Bridges (Elaine); his brother, John Bridges of Waxahachie, Texas; his 14 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren, all of whom brought endless smiles, laughter and memories to his life.
Graham will be remembered for his gentle spirit, his steadfast love for family, and the quiet wisdom he offered to those around him. His was a life well lived, full of love, music, laughter and grace.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Chorus Abilene (PO Box 3358, Abilene, TX 79604) or St. Paul United Methodist Church Music Department (525 Beech, Abilene, TX 79601).
